For my final project at school I wanted to do a project that involved graphic design, web design and the chance to work with a real client.
With the simple question "does anyone know anyone who needs a new website and/or identity?" on Facebook, I found a brand new post-production company from Copenhagen called Post Men.
They wanted a black and white identity with the keywords 'professional', 'timeless' and 'minimalistic'.
I wanted the logotype to be associated with Scandinavian minimalism, timelessness and a great craftsmanship. Since the words "post men" might steer the viewer in the wrong direction, I used the element of movies and traditional post production.
In early logotype sketches I played around with video and scissors elements.
The logotype symbol can be interpreted as many things. The round shape reminds us of film rolls and the camera lens.
The 'X' is both a reference to scissors (the old post-production technique), the computer key for "Cut" and the headlights for movie premieres.
To spread the word of the company, and to play with the name, the logotype can be used on a traditional post bike.
Plus, Copenhagen is a city known for being bike friendly so it certainly fits.
